Buddy was built with popular development tools (like TensorFlow and Android Studio) to allow as many developers as possible to collaborate with us.
In addition to software, developers will be able to build custom hardware-based solutions that BUDDY can interact with.
ANDROID DEVELOPMENT KIT FOR BUDDY
Blue Frog Robotics now offers its Buddy robot with its software development kit (SDK) including a set of APIs to control the robot.
Thanks to this kit, developers, students, professionals and robotics enthusiasts will be able to have access to the various functions of the robot (vocal (TTS / STT) and visual interactions, movements of the robot, emotional behaviors, human and face detection, tracking, QR Codes…) and program it to design new abilities for Buddy from scratch.
It is also possible to have access to raw data from Buddy’s sensors to optimize certain commands or develop specific AI and computer vision algorithms.
In addition, the Android environment natively allows easier access to any API in the cloud to provide more possibilities.

We made the strategic choice to open the architecture of our robot and provide an Android SDK for our emotional robot Buddy to easily write interactive applications with Android Studio.
